Bailie's Gymnastics offers Competitive Teams for
Levels 4 and above. Spots on the Team are by invitation
of the coaching staff only. Interested gymnasts try out
for spots by making an appointment with the coaching staff.
What Does It Take to Be on the Team
To be on a competitive gymnastics
team, it takes many different elements. One, of course, is a physical
ability to safely perform the skills for
each level. On top of that, competitive gymnastics requires determination,
hard work, perseverance, and dedication. At Bailie's,
the coaching staff looks for gymnasts who have a high level of "coachability",
which means they listen to corrections,
try to make the corrections, work hard during practice, and work
with a positive attitude. We also emphasize good
sportsmanship and teach our gymnasts that the posted
score at a meet is not the most important thing.

2006 Level 6 Team Champions
On Bailie's Competitive Team, you will get
a chance to work in a safe and positive environment toward your
gymnastics goals. You will learn the value of believing in yourself,
working hard, and becoming a champion regardless of the skill level
you achieve. We believe that every gymnast who is on a Team should
be able to safely and consistently perform the skill that each
level requires. This means that gymnasts on our teams will have
the confidence necessary to go to meets to perform routines without
having to hope to "hit it" in the meet. If a gymnast is unable
to perform the skills safely, she will not compete at that level
for safety and confidence reasons.
At Bailie's, we realize that children have many different
aspects of their lives. We try to keep their view of gymnastics
in line with the rest of their lives, and with the reality of their
skill levels. It must be the gymnast's
choice to work hard during practice and to continue training for
the next level. We feel that when the gymnast is
no longer enjoying the sport consistently that she should consider
other interests, since enjoyment of the sport is highly related
to an athlete's performance.
